Kyoto Tee with Ruffles – Papercut Patterns

Well hello!

I made something to wear and I really like it so I wanted to share it with you all.

What I made

Pattern: Kyoto tee from Papercut Patterns.

Size made: M

Alterations: I added 5 cm at the bottom to lengthen it.

My thoughts on the pattern

I liked making the pattern. It’s really a simple make, the ruffle is just an extra piece that you gather and then sew between the sleevehead and armhole. The bodice is quite wide, which you could actually already see on the pictures on papercut patterns website if you look closely, but somehow I thought it would be a bit smaller. However, I don’t wear my shirt tucked into a skirt or something so I just accept it and wear it anyway.

For the next version I want to see if I can lengthen the back piece a bit, since it’s seems the same length as the front piece. When I am wearing my shirt, it’s a bit short on my back. Not sure if this is part of the design or that my fabric is just weird, but it would be an easy fix.

The shirt also keeps sliding a bit backwards, so that the neckline comes up very high on the front. I think I need a forward shoulder adjustment on the next version. Let me know if you have any other ideas on this!

With this pattern you can also make a sweater version! That one is definitely on my list for the coming winter!
