I made this dress already a while again, but since I haven’t shared it with you yet. I decided it would be about time to do that before the ending of the year: Meet the Ansa Butterfly Sleeve dress!
What I made
Pattern: Ansa Butterfly Sleeve dress from Named Clothing
Size made: 42 / US 10
Alterations made: Left out 1 pair of waist darts to give more room in the waist.
Would I sew it again?: Yes! I needed some time to really fall in love with this dress, and somehow it clicked when the weather turned cooler and I needed to add tights to it. Now I wear it regularly with tights and a cardigan. This would also make a very good christmas dress if you make it in a black fabric and add gold piping…
Here you see how I wear this dress in the Dutch winter: I added tights, a small black cardigan and a warm woolen coat. I will do another post about this coat soon, as I also made it myself and its my favourite coat ever.
I was planning to wear this dress to a wedding or two this season. However when I finished it, it felt not really wedding ‘enough’ because the fabric was more ‘black’ then ‘fancy print’ from a distance. And I don’t like wearing a black dress to a summery wedding. So it ended up being a perfect casual dress for daily life. Maybe even better right!
Yes, I am very strong as you can see. Also, look at that sleeve!
I like to twirl in my dresses. Don’t you? This one does the job perfectly.
